Doggone Dog Days
Were Taking, But Not Much Else
We have been enjoying the harvest from our garden, but the work side of things has subsided. The hot and dry weather has somehow dissipated the motivation to work in the garden, other than to pull a few vegeys for the dinner table. The zukes, cukes, cabbage, onions, peppers, tomatoes and beans are ready, and we have been eating them with joy. But the dry weather has definitely hurt the quantity,
With my business taking me out of town, the sprinkler has been operated less than I would have preferred. And the harvest reflects that. We have done zero canning this season.
Tonight we had a side dish of tomatoes, onions, and zucchini. Wifey sliced them all up, placed them in a foil pan with some Italian dressing and a few dabs of butter, covered with foil and heated on the grill. The aroma was absolutely delightful. She grilled some fish fillets, and made rice and the combination was a BIG HIT.
But the Dog Days of Summer have slowed us all down. Or maybe it is Wifey’s good cooking.
