Killing American Citizens without a Trial

December 14, 2010

In which country can Americans be killed without a trial?

or, more clearly, which government claims the right to kill Americans, without having their day in court?  Would it be A.) Somalia

B.) Yemen   C.) North Korea or D.) the United State of America ???

Read this article: by James Bovard in The American Conservative and then I will have a little commentary, from a poor dirt farmer’s perspective.

Okay, did you finish?  Do you feel, like I do, that you have fallen down a rabbit hole, and now are in some alternate universe? What in the world is going on, that We the People have allowed stinking public servants to behave like third world dictators?

Now, back in my country…

Back in the country that I came from, we hold these truths to be self evident.

  • All men, and women are created equal
  • they are endowed, by their Creator with unalienable rights
  • among these rights are … Life
  • Liberty
  • and the Pursuit of Happiness
  • and in order to live long, healthy, happy lives we delegate some our individual authority to our government, to protect our rights.

Back in the land, above the rabbit hole, where I come from, people do not have the right to murder people.  People do not have the right to steal from other people.  And people cannot DELEGATE the authority to do these things, because they do not HAVE them in the first place.

These ideas are what the country that I come from used in formulating a government in the first place.  It is codified and public servants all swear an oath to support and defend that codification.  What does that tell us about THEM?

I like to put it more simply, “This is America, we don’t do those things here”.
