Gold Cup 100
Greetings, dear reader!
Don’t you just hate it when *Life* gets in the way? I have some photos of the green bean canning process that I have been wanting to share with y’all. They are captured on that little card thingee in the camera. And then life got in the way.
Yesterday I spent a good part of the day helping a dear friend rearrange stuff in his tool shed. He is a farmer, with a lot of tools, grain wagons, trailers, combine bean heads and tractors, even a backhoe. Some of these tools were stored in an unused barn on property where he used to farm. The current owner sent him a letter that he was to remove all his equipment from said barn, by 5 p.m. on August 09, 2010. So we rearranged the stuff, moved his gear out of the other barn, and didn’t get the pictures out of the little card thingee.
Immediately after that project, we headed off to Baer Field Raceway, down by the airport in Fort Wayne to watch the Gold Cup 100 races. WHAT A LOT OF FUN THAT WAS!!! It started off with a celebrity go-cart race, and celebrity Tom Henry, the mayor of Fort Wayne took the honors (and a great big trophy).
The highlight of the night was the SuperPro Series Gold Cup 100 race. There was a wreck before all the racers even crossed the starting line! Two of the racers, one a 16 year old female, were out of the race before it even began!
The event was sponsored by International Truck and Engine, and included a fantastic fireworks display put on by “The Mad Bomber”. The fireworks alone were worth the price of admission! You can find out more about racing at the speedway by looking HERE
The racing went on until after midnight. And so the pictures of green bean canning are still in the little memory card thingee. I will get them posted, I assure you, dear reader. If I don’t let life get in the way.
