Good Morning dear reader.
In the View from Bippus is a new sight for 2010…CORN. That’s right, on my travels yesterday several of the fields we passed had emerged, exposing cute little one inch corn seedlings. So those folks that gambled a few weeks back and planted seem to have made the right decision. Now this was not a widespread observation, mind you, but I saw it with my own eyes, and seeing is believing.
Field activity has been somewhat slow, as the drying trend continues. We have seen the movement of some big farm equipment, where farmers are shuttling from one farm to another, but avoiding going out into the fields, as their is still a significant amount of moisture.
We are still waiting for our first batch of sweet corn to emerge. Once it does, we will plant a second patch so that we develop one long continuous harvest. Just the thought of fresh picked sweet corn makes my taste buds jump for joy!
