Sweet Corn
Broccoli, Green Beans, and Sweet Corn
Those are all the things that we picked today and then immediately steamed for dinner. And that, coupled with some sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, steamed rice and crock pot farm duck went together into another WONDERFUL Wifey creation.
With the drought we have been having in the Bippus Area, the corn has been a long time coming. The ears were skinnier than one might prefer, but they were buttery bliss, on a plate.
Not a Better Way
There is not a better way to eat than to head on out to the garden, pick yourself some stuff, bring it into the kitchen and prepare it. Well, almost no better way. Have you ever eaten sweet corn, au naturale?.. Yeah, like you rip it off the stalk, pull back the leaves, and just start biting? Oh, never mind. Back in the kitchen, you steam your fresh goodies, slather them in butter, and chow down. Good eats.
Anyway, today was the first day that we harvested any sweet corn, and it is just freakin wonderful. These are the good old days.
