Good day, dear reader. We are getting a good dousing of snow today, there is about 4-5″ on the ground right now, and no sign of it letting up. Our youngest was let out of school an hour early, due to the amount of snow. Likely school will be canceled tomorrow.

Well we are going to roast a nice fat chicken. Bake some potatoes along with the yard bird. Heat up some of those good canned green beans to give the plate some color. But a nice deep snow seems like the ideal time to have canned pears for dessert. These pears were grown by a neighbor, and they were literally falling off the tree. Before I rescued them. Tonight a quart of those pears ought to really hit the spot as a sweet treat!
